Abstract: 隨著3G與WLAN這兩種異質性無線網路的日漸普及,多媒體的運用將會更加重要。在有線網路上利用IP Multicast 傳送
多媒體資料已經證明是一個有效率的方式。但是當行動用戶(Mobile Host, MH)在同一種無線網路的cell 之間換手(handoff)
時,若仍採用傳統Mobile IP (MIP)結合IP multicast 的方式,如Remote Subscription (RS) 和Bi-directional Tunneling (BT),就
會產生需要重新建立Multicast tree 的明顯延遲,進一步導致multimedia 串流中斷與服務品質(Quality of Service, QoS)下降的
現象,這種現象在整合3G/GPRS/GSM 與 WLAN 的異質性無線網路上將會更加嚴重。為了要讓multicast group 內的行動用
戶換手之後,仍然可以順利且同步的接續 multimedia 串流,我們設計一個結合SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)與IP Multicast
的Hierarchical Multicast SIP (HMSIP)協定,目的希望可以降低IP address binding update 與重建Multicast tree 的延遲; 而在
換手的同時,為了達成multimedia 串流接續的效能,將整合RSVP 的資源預留訊息,在新的路徑上支援MH 的快速handoff
與multimedia 串流QoS 需要。
For supporting the Mobile Host (MH) in the heterogeneous wireless networks, which encompass the 3G/GPRS/GSM and WLAN networks, to be the multicast receivers, the traditional approaches such as the Remote Subscription (RS) and Bi-directional Tunneling (BT) integrate the
Mobile IP protocol with the IP multicast technique. However, they inherit intrinsic problems to handle mobility and suffer significant delays to rebuild the multicast tree when the MH moves out of the tree, which results in serious playback interruption and quality of service (QoS)
degradation for the ongoing multimedia service. To solve this problem, we propose the Hierarchical Multicast Session Initiation Protocol (HMSIP), which integrates the IETF Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) with the IP Multicast protocol and the RSVP resource reservation technique, to reduce the delay for rebuilding the multicast tree and support fast handoff for the MH with guaranteed multimedia QoS when the MH hands off to the neighboring cell..
