Abstract:	由於Internet 頻寬有限，無法提供多媒體即時傳輸所需的服務品質(Quality of Service,QoS)，因此目前在Internet 上支援即時多媒體的應用並不成熟。本論文發展『Java based SMIL 多媒體即時同步遠距教學系統』提供教師與學生一個即時多媒體同步教學。只要具備瀏覽器基本操作能力者皆可使用。本遠距教學系統主要提供W3C SMIL 多媒體教材的同步展示，老師影像/聲音的捕捉與傳送，教材註解功能與上課過程的記錄與重播等功能，支援同步上課與課後複習的學習功能。
