Abstract: The asymmetric microstrip gap discontinuity with a cylindrical substrate–superstrate configuration is analyzed using a full-wave spectral-domain approach. A combination of entire-domain traveling-wave modes and piecewise sinusoidal (PWS) functions is used to model the strip currents near the gap in the moment-method computation. The frequency-dependent scattering parameters and the gap-equivalent admittances for several microstrip width ratios are presented and discussed. The effects of the superstrate on the transmission power losses and the gap-equivalent capacitances are also examined.
