Abstract:	A broadband circularly-polarized nearlysquare patch antenna with a folded ground plane is presented. The proposed CP patch antenna is intended to be applied for WLAN operating in 2.4 GHz band. To obtain a wider CP bandwidth, an air-layer substrate with thickness about 10% of the wavelength at the center operating frequency is used. The obtained CP bandwidth (3-dB axial ratio) is up to 6.3% and the measured antenna gain is about 8.5 dBic across the CP bandwidth. Details of the antenna design and experimental results are presented.
