Abstract: In this paper, a Preheat Controlled Fluorescent Electronic Ballast with Zero Glow Current Function is proposed to obtain zero glow current and preheating control ability to increase the using life of the fluorescent lamp. In order to access the performance of the proposed fluorescent electronic ballast, a prototype for 40W fluorescent lamps is design and implemented. Experimental results show the proposed Fluorescent Electronic Ballast can ignite the fluorescent lamps at the temperature of lamp filaments in 700.degree.C ~ 1000.degree.C, and zero glow current is obtained at the same time. Thus, the using life of the fluorescent lamp is increased as we wanted.
