The data of this study is from an islandwide labor utilization survey in the year of 1996 and 2000 conducted by the Office of the Direcotorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (ODGBAS), Executive Yuan. Employing the methods of logistic regression and OLS regression to analyze our data, we found that 20-30 years old junior college graduates significantly earned more than general high school graduates monthly.
Especially, it happened on female graduates of business, industrial, and medical junior college. Besides, we also found that 20-30 years old junior college graduates participated in the labor market significantly less than general high school graduates. According to the above findings, we concluded that the economic effect of junior college is still sound. We have made four concrete recommendations on the development of junior college education in Taiwan.
