Abstract: 本研究旨在探討控制了環境及人口等諸多變數後,工程教育的發展,是否已超過了勞動市場的需求。以高工、工專、大學或研究所工程教育畢業生相對於其他高職畢業生,在人力運用適當性(失業與工作時數)以及月薪資所得兩方面的表現來代表工程教育經濟效益的程度。採用行政院主處所收錄的「民國八十七年、八十九年與九十一年中華民國台灣地區人力運用調查資料」進行分析。其分析對象為25-35 歲之擁有高中、專科、大學或研究所教育學歷者。經由採用c 2分析失業情形、Tobit 多元迴歸法分析工作時數模型及樣本選擇偏誤兩階段多元迴歸法分析月薪資所得模型後,我們主要的結論是當控制了人口與環境變項後,除了研究所工程教育畢業生成為「失業者」之可能性顯著的較其他教育主修的畢業生為高外,其他教育程度者之間並無顯著的差異。此外,專科以下的工程教育畢業生的年工作時數效益均顯著的較高外,大學以上者的年工作時數則顯著的較短。再而,女性工程教育畢業生的薪資所得效益均顯著的較高外,女性工程教育畢業生則無此顯著的發現。最後,除了高工及研究所工科之薪資效益高於非工科者外,其他各級工科教育(大學及專科)效益並無此顯著的差異。可能意謂著我國工程教育正存在中級人力過剩的問題。
The purpose of this study is to find whether the development of engineering education in Taiwan is really over the demand of labor market. We analyzed the data of labor utilization survey in the year of 1998, 1999 and 2002 conducted by the Office of the Direcotorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (ODGBAS), Executive Yuan. Employed the methods of c 2 , Tobit regression, and sample selection biased two-stage
multiple regression to analyze the sample of whose age were from 25 to 35 years old, accepted vocational high school, junior college, 4-year university or graduate institute education. We found that graduates of graduate institute significantly had higher unemployment probability. Only graduates of vocational high school and junior college significantly worked longer while graduates of university and graduate institute had shorter working hours. Besides, female graduates of engineering major earned more during this five-year period than their non-engineering major counterparts monthly. Finally, we also found that engineering major graduates of vocational high school and graduate institute earned more
than their non-engineering major counterparts monthly. This might tell us that mid-level engineering major workforce has an over-supply problem in Taiwan.
