Abstract: In the 21st century, the performance evaluation of teaching has become main issue for the advanced industry nations in higher education. Teaching quality is an important indicator for measuring the operation performance of a school or university. In general, many tangible and intangible factors will influence the performance evaluation of teaching quality. Under the situations, it is difficult to measure the performance of teaching quality for each student by using a crisp score. A more realistic approach may use linguistic assessments instead of numerical values. In this paper, a transformation method of linguistic assessments will be presented to transform the teaching quality in a unique domain. Second, a new fuzzy linguistic method will be proposed in this paper based on computing with linguistic variables to determine the performance evaluation of teaching quality. Finally, an example is implemented to demonstrate the practicability of the proposed method. The result shows that the proposed model can measure the teaching quality effectively.
