Abstract: Principal of high school has been the annotation of the education field “of noble character and high prestige” all the time, who shoulders heavy responsibility. He or she has mission of fostering talents and the specialized personnel for the country and plays a plural role. Leadership style is the manner and approach of providing direction, implementing plans, and motivating people. The principal’s leadership style of high school not only leads development of school but also the successful key factor of a good school. The Ministry of Education revises and announces “The Rule of Selection, Engagement, and Evaluation of High School Principal” since 2000 year in Taiwan. The main purpose of this research is to analyze staffs’ cognition on leadership style of novice principal in national high school who adopts the new law. The discussion include seven factors: principal’s leadership on school mission forming, influence of principal’s personal glamour, principal’s idea of running a school and ability of knowledge self-control, principal’s democratic accomplishment and morality integrity, principal’s treatment on problem and emergency, principal’s communication and leadership, and democracy of the campus and participation of teachers and parents. Hope this research result can help principals of high school to review and study about their own leadership style.
