Nanoplatelets of Bi2-xSbxTe3-δ with nominal composition of x = 1.5 are synthesized using hydrothermal methods [1,2]. The resulting powders are cold pressed and sintered in an evacuated ampoule at various temperatures between 300 and 360°C. The effects of sintering temperature on the thermoelectric properties of compacted Bi2-xSbxTe3- are investigated. We find that the compacted Bi2-xSbxTe3-δ sample sintered at 340°C has the highest power factor of 11.6 μW/cm-K2 and its thermal conductivity is 0.37 W/m K at 295 K. The resulting dimensionless figure of merit ZT is 0.93 at 295 K. Hall effect measurements are also carried out to study the scattering mechanism for samples sintered at different temperatures.
