Abstract: Index is one of the most popular tools provided by digital libraries to help users looking for the information of interest. While many researches have addressed the problem of automatic construction of index for text-based digital libraries, that for multimedia digital libraries is nevertheless hard. This is because multimedia objects usually lack of sufficient text information for reliable index learning. In this research, we propose to overcome the problem of automatic index construction for multimedia information by making use of the limited keywords attached with multimedia information as well as Web usage logs. Two algorithms are proposed and evaluated. The preliminary experimental results show that our approaches are comparable with traditional content-based clustering approaches.
