Abstract: | In wireless network systems, the MAC (Medium Access Control) layer provides a reliable data delivery service to insure that the data from the upper layer is being transmitted or received correctly through wireless medium. In this paper, a MAC module is investigated and implemented. The MAC module has the functions of CSMA/CA (Carrier-Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance), RTS/CTS (Request To Send/Clear To Send), ACK (Acknowledgement), and FCS (Frame Check Sequence). An ARM/FPGA embedded system is employed to realize the MAC module. The MAC protocol is achieved by the ARM system with Linux operating system and the interface circuits between the MAC module and physical transceiver is implemented by a FPGA board. |
