The study examines the relationship between safety climate and safety performance. A self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted among the employees within Taiwan High Speed Rail Contract in 2002. The number of respondent was 232, and response rate was 92.80%. Both Pearson correlation analysis and Canonical correlation analysis reveal a significant positive correlation between the climate and the performance, and a strongest positive correlation between emergency response and the performance. Accordingly, managers may pursue the excellent safety performance by creating positive safety climate. Moreover, managers may enhance the competency of employees' emergency response to achieve this goal.
