Abstract: In this paper, an investigation of active vibration controller for single degree of freedom and multiple degrees of freedom isolation platforms is presented. Three different active vibration control techniques are implemented and compared in the experimental works. Apart from adaptive feedforward and feedback control systems, a hybrid controller which is a combination of the adaptive control with filtered-x least mean squares algorithm and linear quadratic gaussian state feedback theory for obtaining robust performance and fast convergence is proposed. The control plants are identified by frequency-domain techniques and implemented on a digital signal processor. Experiments are carried out to evaluate the proposed controller performance at isolation platforms. The results of experiments indicate that the proposed hybrid technique is effective in reducing the vibration for experimental systems and yield the best performance for the isolation platform. The comparison of three control structures is also described in this paper.
