Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to explore the relationships between the junior high school students’ resilience and life adjustments. The survey data were collected from 870 students in 7 townships in Taoyuan County. This study applied statistical methods, such as mean, standard deviation, one-way MANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple regression to analyze data. The findings were as follow:
1.Junior high students’ resilience as a whole was above the average; among resilience factors, autonomy, internal control, challenge and confidence were at higher level while involvement and activity were at lower level.
2.Junior high students’ life adjustments as a whole were above the average. Among the four aspects of life adjustments, interpersonal adjustment was at the best level while school adjustment at the worse one.
3.There were significant differences in students’ resilience and life adjustments in relation to the gender variable.
4.There were no significant differences in students’ resilience and life adjustments in relation to grade, area and school type (public or private).
5.Students’ resilience was related significantly to each aspect of students’ life adjustments.
6.Personal adjustment and family adjustment were predicted significantly by students’ background variables (gender and grade).
