Abstract: 本研究以「國中學生英語學習動機低落問題與因應策略」為研究目的,為達成研究目的,主要是採用質性研究之訪談法及文件分析法,共選取雲林縣五位國中英語科輔導團團員進行訪談,並蒐集與研究主題相關的文件,以相互校正資料。
根據訪談資料與文件分析結果,本研究獲致的結論如下:
壹、國中學生英語學習動機低落問題之現況
一、研究發現,在雲林縣,不分學校大小或地區,各校部分國中學生的英語學習動機低落是普遍存在的問題,
二、研究發現,國中學生的英語學習動機除個人生理因素外,老師所採取的因應策略對其是有影響的。
貳、影響國中生英語學習動機低落的主因
一、影響學習動機的內在因素如個人心理因素、語言敏感度及學習經驗。
二、影響學習動機的外在因素有:家庭因素、學校因素及社會因素。
參、國中教師的因應策略現況
一、教學層面:老師為了教學生動必須使用多樣化的教學設計,並且態度和善,還要有使用教學輔助設備的能力。
二、教材層面:根據研究結果分析,生活化而且適量的教材能引起學生的學習動機。
三、評量層面:採取多元化的真實評量,並且根據學生的程度,採用各種適性評量的方式,以增加信心,減少考試焦慮。
肆、國中英語教師需要的協助與未來待解決的問題
一、教師需要教育主管單位方面能協助辦理研習、增加授課時數、縮短城鄉差距及補助經費。另一方面教師需要學校方面能落實能力分組、充實圖書設備、
舉辦英語活動並公開鼓勵學生優良表現。
二、未來待解決的問題有:如何克服學生「說」的障礙,導正升學主義掛帥的觀念及如何鼓勵家長參與,建立共識。
伍、建議
根據本研究結果,擬對教育主管單位、學校單位、教師、父母及未來後續研究,提出具體建議。

Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the problem of junior high
school students’ low English learning motivation. Some related coping strategies were
also addressed. Five interviewees were members of English Compulsory Education Advisory
Group inYunlin. The interview and the document analysis were applied to collected
data. The major findings are as follows :
1. Regardless of the size or the location,in Yunlin, every school has quite a few students whose motivation in English learning is low.
2. The factors affecting students’ English learning motivation include personal factors, family factors, school factors and society factors.
3. Teachers’ coping strategies have crucial effects on arising students’ English learning motivation. The strategies include well-planned teaching design, adjusting instruction method and teaching materials,as well as multiple ways of assessments.
4. Both the government and the school have to provide much help while junior high school English teachers are dealing with students’ English learning motivation including in-service training, ability grouping, sufficient teaching hours, informative resources , equipments and more financial supports are efficient solutions..
5. Junior high school teachers have to face many challenges. Therefore, suggestions to improve the problems of students’ low learning motivation in Yunlin in the future were also included.
